Dodge has just come out with a new car called the Hornet. One of its available powertrains is a plug-in hybrid system, making it the first electrified model that Dodge has released. At Alan Jay Chrysler Dodge Ram Jeep of Wauchula, we're very excited about this performance-oriented car. Like the other Dodge vehicles in our inventory, it offers a lot of excitement and has an athletic style.
The plug-in hybrid version is called the Hornet R/T. It relies on both an electric motor and a turbocharged engine. The result of these two components working together is 288 horsepower, along with 383 pound-feet of torque. If you really want to push the limits, you can engage a PowerStop function that'll give you extra horsepower and torque for a limited amount of time.
While the exact range will depend on driving conditions and other factors, it's likely that you'll be able to travel about 30 miles on electric power alone. There's nothing to worry about when you run out of battery power, as you can then utilize the gas-powered engine. This is one of the main benefits of plug-in hybrids.
The Hornet GT is the other option to consider. It runs on a turbocharged, 2.0-liter engine and uses a nine-speed automatic transmission. This car is also quite capable, coming with 268 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque.
In both models, you'll find many attractive features. A flat-bottom steering wheel adds to the sporty nature of the car, and the 12.3-inch digital information display can keep you apprised of the Hornet's performance. Plus, there's a 10.3-inch infotainment display that has Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Wireless charging is an option, and a number of driver-assist technologies are standard.
You could be one of the first people to drive a Dodge Hornet. We'll be happy to show you what it's capable of at Alan Jay Chrysler Dodge Ram Jeep of Wauchula!
